Ira, the Founder/President of Rapid3D, is a seasoned entrepreneur dedicated to the use and practical application of 3d technologies with over 27 years of experience working in 3D as an entrepreneur and business owner. As a co-founding partner of Edmonton based Mecca Media Group in 1995, he was responsible for implementing the use of 3D modeling and animation technologies to illustrate maintenance and operations procedures and sequences in Aerospace, Defence, Oil and Gas, Pulp and Paper, Education and much more. Mecca Media Group was widely recognized as leaders in the field of Industrial Multimedia and were rewarded with Small Business Owners of the Year in 1999 for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Alberta Venture Magazine’s third fasted growing company in the province of Alberta and much more. Mecca Media Group was purchased by Axia Net Media in 2000.

More recently, Ira founded Calgary based Rapid3D in 2009 after trying a Creaform handheld 3D scanner for the first time and seeing the unlimited potential 3D scanning had and how it could be applied to so many different industries and applications. Rapid3D has established itself as the leading western Canadian resource and supplier for companies who want to use and implement metrology grade 3d scanning for advanced applications ranging from design, inspection, wear analysis, corrosion analysis and reality capture. The team at Rapid3D currently works with companies in Agricultural Equipment Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, NDT, Aerospace, Automotive, Post Secondary, ATV and UTV Aftermarket, Motorsports, Museums, Archaeology, Forestry, Mining and much more.

Ira is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Engineering Design and Drafting program.
