Stefano graduated from the University of Alberta in December 1986 with a B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering. He began working at Syncrude Canada Ltd in 1987 and moved to Syncrude R&D in 1993. In 1999 he received an M.Eng in Welding Engineering from the University of Alberta and is an International Institute of Welding(IIW) International Welding Engineer. In the last few years, he has been focusing on improving reliability of slurry systems. More recently he has been exploring how additive manufacturing might benefit Syncrude.
